My brother and I graduated from San Marino High School in 1974/1977. My son graduated from there inRead More 2011. My daughter is a junior there. She is bright and tutors on the side. My son is a United States Army Ranger who made it all the way through in a year and a half of training. He will attend college after his contract is up. It's the parents and community that the school district relies on. The PTA is so powerful, San Marino Rotary and San Marino City Club all contribute to the district's success as well as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, athletic support and determined parents who have their children tutored. The whole small city stands behind the District and always passes measures to keep monies intact.

Hi, Sara Smith here. I'm the tutor that started the 500 Club. Just to clarify, I also agree thatRead More memorizing random long lists of word is close to a waste of time. We encourage our students to really understand what they are studying, so the words that our students learn are words that they find in their studies and look up on their own. So the students are even more admirable for taking the extra time and effort.

Yep. In 2009 Measure E was passed assessing an additional $795/year in property taxes for 6 yearsRead More for the public schools. It's not likely to go away because nobody here pays attention to mail-in elections. Total = $1,125 / yr -- actually higher because the amounts increase every year. Last I checked the Measure E tax (a/k/a San Marino USD#2 on your property tax bill) was about $825. Patch and SM Tribune have been silent about this.

CONGRATULATIONS, ONE AND ALL! It's great to see such a diverse group of SMHS scholars recognizedRead More for their resolve. Each of these students has also deeply dedicated themselves to either visual and performing arts, speech and debate, athletics or ASB. The Faculty and Staff at Huntington Middle School applaud you!!
