Greening america with PHOENIX GLOBAL GREEN SCHOOL,

a GREEN AND French/american BILINGUAL PRESCHOOL IN LOS ANGELES

LOS ANGELES, CA, OCTOBER 6Th, 2012:  When Celine Chouteau became a certified teacher &amp; School Library Media Specialist in Secondary Education in France, specializing in sustainable development researches with her students, she will have never imagined to be teaching in the United States, in Los Angeles, California. Five years ago, she dreamed about creating her own green school while supporting her community and promoting environmental awareness and social responsibility.

Opening this Fall 2012, Phoenix Global Green School is a new sustainable school concept. While renting a house, Celine, who is also teaching French by progressive immersion to the early age children, wants to contribute in greening the place thanks to the children involvement, by reusing materials and school supplies that are also coming from local communities and with the support of the parents by enrolling their children at her school.

Her final objective, as the Phoenix&#39;s symbol with its ability to regenerate itself, is to make her school able to produce as much as possible all its needs itself and becoming a positive energy establishment: by including an environmental education &amp; literacy in the center of the children’s education with ecology &amp; gardening classes, composting, recycling, reusing, learning about the protection of the wildlife, while experiencing the love of working together, and by providing organic &amp; vegetarian food, working with a private chef/menu developer &amp; nutritionist, June Pagan, and local farmers &amp; producers.

Celine plans to open other Phoenix Global Green Schools in the future and to start again, with the help of the children, our future citizens of the world, and the local communities, to turn other houses into a green location.

Phoenix Global Green School’s first location is at the edge of South Pasadena and Los Angeles (Avenue 60 exit, Collis &amp; Coleman avenues).

Celine began working with children more than 17 years ago. She has a Master degree in Arts –comparative foreign literature- from La Sorbonne, in Paris, and has been a librarian for numerous years in Youth Services Public Parisian libraries before becoming a teacher. She recently completed her early childhood education basic certificate within one year and is completing her administrative/supervisor units at UCLA. Arriving to Los Angeles she worked at the <i>Lycee Français</i> and was a leader in the creation of a short music video about “environment and film” with children. She also worked closely with an Environmental Specialist last year, at <i>Ecole Claire Fontaine</i>.
