Since graduating from UCLA in 1984, I've pursued a career in writing about the subjects I care most about: architecture and city planning. In planning terms, LA is a fascinating laboratory of all the right, and most of the wrong things to do in city planning. In terms of architecture, LA is one of the most important cities in the world--design is a local "culture product" that people still don't fully appreciate. Other interests: music (playing piano, harpsichord, clarinet, sax) hospice volunteering (write me about this, if you like), book collecting, meditation and parenting.
