Photos & Video: San Marino Firefighters' Association Pancake Breakfast

Members of the community, San Marino firefighters and local officials came out to flip and serve pancakes for charity and community on Saturday.

People and pancakes came together at Lacy Park Saturday morning for the annual ' Association Pancake Breakfast.

Though the event raises funds for different charities each year--Quest Burn Foundation, Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation and San Marino charities were the beneficiaries this year--San Marino Firefighters' Association President Nick Maza said the pancake breakfast has "evolved into a way [to] get the whole community together."

One instance of community at the pancake breakfast is the attendance of the , which meets on Saturdays and bought several tickets for students to attend the event.

Firefighters, local officials like San Marino Vice Mayor and business owners like owner Linda Cao were among the pancake makers who served a continuous line of hungry attendees. Sausages off the grill and warm syrup completed the pancake feast.

Local businesses donated items for a raffle and silent auction that also raised money for charity.

Maza estimated this was the 21st year of the San Marino Firefighters' Association Pancake Breakfast but said it is hard to know the exact year it started since firefighters have retired since its inception.

The amount raised by the pancake breakfast has not yet been calculated, but Maza said the event averages about $6,000 each year.
