Where Fourth of July Fireworks are Legal in L.A. County

With the majority of cities in the county banning fireworks of any kind, for most L.A. County residents Fourth of July fireworks means watching a display, not firing off their own.

But while most cities in the county forbid the use of any fireworks at all, the below ones do permit the sale and use of "safe and sane" fireworks, according to the Cal Fire newswire website:

Alhambra, Artesia, Azusa, Baldwin Park, Bell, Bell Gardens, Bellflower Carson, Commerce, Compton, Cudahy, Downey, Duarte, El Monte, Gardena, Hawaiian Gardens, Hawthorne, Huntington Park, Industry, Inglewood, Irwindale, La Mirada, La Puente, Lakewood, Lawndale, Lynwood, Maywood, Montebello, Monterey Park, Norwalk, Palmdale, Paramount, Pico Rivera, Rosemead, Santa Fe Springs, South El Monte, South Gate, Temple City, Vernon

So what constitutes a safe and sane firework?  According to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department, any firework that "explodes, rises in the air or moves about the ground or any fireworks which is not approved and labeled 'Safe and Sane' by the State Fire Marshal," is against the law.
