I just came across this wonderful book written by Charlie Wing, published by R.S. Means and thought it was worth a mention. A must in any homeowners library! It covers some very important components of a functioning home like plumbing, electrical, heating, cooling, air quality, appliances, windows and doors, foundation and frame and lastly outdoor items like sprinklers, septic and lawn equipment.
Realtors gain a basic knowledge of property mechanics from experience of their own from selling and buying homes for their clients and guiding them through the basics of a purchase or sale. However, some elements are best left to a professional. What I love about this book is that it helps you understand how each piece of equipment works which helps you make a decision on whether a service call is needed for something major or just a kink that is easily mended by some handy work of your own which could save you money! This knowledge could be essential if you are already in your home or your soon home-to be!
