El Monte Police Shoot Man in Nearby San Gabriel

The officer-involved shooting took place at 4:40 a.m. Friday at San Marino Avenue and Leslie Drive.

A man was wounded today in an officer-involved shooting in San Gabriel involving El Monte police, authorities said.

The shooting was reported about 4:40 a.m. Friday at San Marino Avenue and Leslie Drive, said Deputy Don Walker of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

The wounded person, described only as a male, was taken to a hospital. His condition was not immediately known.

He was driving a large white truck, according to NBC4, which in an aeriel view of the site of shooting, showed the truck appearing to have crashed on the sidewalk in front of a home. What appears to be blood, is splattered on sidewalk near the driver's side door.

What prompted the shooting remains under investigation by El Monte police and sheriff's detectives.
