City to Celebrate 100 Years with Party at Lacy Park

The celebration will be held on April 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lacy Park.

It's sure to be an epic celebration, after all, you only turn 100 once!

In celebration of its first 100 years, the Centennial Committee for the City of San Marino is planning a Community Birthday Party at Lacy Park in April.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a very, very special occasion. We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the festivities," said committee member Randy Shulman.

The party is slated for Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m to 2 p.m. People are invited to enjoy train rides, pony rides, a juggler, balloon artist, photo booth, and more. The food court will offer a range of options including barbeque, Mexican, and San Marino’s own Tony’s Pizza.

“Come join in the community fun by competing in tug o’ war, a hula hoop contest, sack race, pie eating contest or a water balloon toss,” urges Shulman.

The city was incorporated on April 25, 1913. Shulman noted that a centennial fountain will be dedicated at 8 am at City Hall on April 25, 2013 in commemoration of that historic moment.

A schedule of events will be available in April on the Centennial website: www.cityofsanmarino.org/centennial.
