San Marino to Get $86K to Replace Windstorm Trees

Funded by the Safe Neighborhood Parks Propositions, the grant will pay for the planting of new trees to replace those lost in the winter 2011 windstorm.

San Marino, along with 13 other cities, is listed as a grant recipient from a $1.9 million program meant to benefit cities in the San Gabriel Valley who suffered tree destruction in last year's windstorm, Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich announced Tuesday.

San Marino is set to receive $86,428 to replace damaged trees.  According to a city report filed in March, that will cover the planting of 139 new trees in the city.

The city estimated back in January the storms did about $335,000 in damages.
