Chinese School Rings in Lunar New Year With Carnival (PHOTOS)

Games, performances, food and more ushered in the Year of the Dragon at the Chinese School's annual Chinese Lunar New Year Carnival Saturday.

Gloomy weather could not keep the Year of the Dragon away as kids, teens and adults gathered Saturday for the Chinese Lunar New Year Carnival at , held by the .

Martial arts performers and others entertained attendees, as did different games--fishing for real gold fish from a small pool was especially popular.

Taiwanese food like spring rolls was served, along with non-Chinese favorites like pizza.

The carnival's proceeds benefit the Chinese School of San Marino. With this fund, the CSSM PTA supports the school by:

  • providing the school and teachers with supplies
  • supporting the extracurricular classes on Saturdays with the focus on music, calligraphy, and poetry
  • paying for the year books for the students, faculty, and staff
  • paying for performances at the end of school year assembly
