Legendary Local Sports Photographer Offers Free Photo Seminar

Andrew D. Bernstein is currently the team photographer for the Lakers, Clippers and Kings.

He's documented some of the most epic sports memories in the Los Angeles landscape, including capturing championship moments for the Los Angeles Lakers, Dodgers and the Kings. And now, you can hear him up close a personal at an exclusive sports photography seminar in Los Angeles next month.

Legendary sports photographer Andrew D. Bernstein -- a San Marino resident -- will share insight on his 30+ years of groundbreaking sports photography during a photo seminar “Behind the Scenes of an NBA Photographer” presented by Tamrac, Samy’s Camera, and Nikon.   

The presentation will be held at Samy's Camera EDU Department located at 475 S. Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 21 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Registration for the class is free and available online at http://www.eventbrite.com/event/5413660404/eorgTickets will include admission to the event, coupons from Tamrac, Samy’s Camera and Nikon, and light refreshments.

Bernstein’s presentation topics will include:

  • Stories behind the most iconic sports images of the past 30 years
  • Equipment, setup and shooting pro sports

Following his presentation, he will provide a book signing for Journey to the Ring: Behind the Scenes with the 2010 NBA Champion Lakers, his photo documentary book collaboration with former Lakers Head Coach Phil Jackson, which will be available for sale for $25.

A Legendary Career Spanning More Than 30 Years 

Having spent more than 30 years of as a sports, commercial and venue photographer, Bernstein has photographed the NBA and NHL since 1980, as well six Olympic teams for USA Basketball. He and his company, Andrew D. Bernstein Associates Photography, Inc., have served as official photographer for almost every major team and venue in Southern California. His work has been published worldwide and he has had numerous awards and exhibitions. Bernstein is one of only four photographers whose work is on permanent display at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.

He is currently the team photographer for the Lakers, Clippers and Kings as well as Director of Photography for STAPLES Center and Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE. Bernstein was team photographer for ten home teams to win a championship in basketball (Lakers in 1985, 1987, 1988, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009, 2010), baseball (Dodgers in1988), and hockey (Kings in 2012). 

Bernstein also documented the 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008 United States Olympic basketball teams.

On April 21, Bernstein will be inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.
